In 2011, 661 volunteers contributed 20,550 hours, the equivalent of $444,300 worth of labor, caring for the Trail.
Adopt-A-Trail Accomplishments
- 282 Adopters and helpers spent 5,244 hours peforming maintenance work on all 486 miles of the Trail
- 310 fallen trees removed
- Hundreds of water diversions repaired, replaced and installed
- Signage, including directional signs and confidence markers, installed or replaced
Trail Crew Accomplishments
- 280 volunteers worked 11,695 on 9 weeklong and 5 weekend crews
- More than 17 miles of tread upgraded
- One 30-foot bridge and two 8-foot bridges completed
- 311 water diversions built or refurbished
- 4 culverts installed or renovated
- 2 equestrian creek crossings added
- 40-foot turnpike built in marshy area
- 4 switchbacks built
- Assisted Continental Divide National Scenic Trail partners in completing 1,500 of trail
Other Volunteerism:
- 99 volunteers, including board members and operations and office helpers, dedicated 3,612 hours to Trail work
