In 2011, 661 volunteers contributed 20,550 hours, the equivalent of $444,300 worth of labor, caring for the Trail.

Adopt-A-Trail Accomplishments

  • 282 Adopters and helpers spent 5,244 hours peforming maintenance work on all 486 miles of the Trail
  • 310 fallen trees removed
  • Hundreds of water diversions repaired, replaced and installed
  • Signage, including directional signs and confidence markers, installed or replaced

Trail Crew Accomplishments

  • 280 volunteers worked 11,695 on 9 weeklong and 5 weekend crews
  • More than 17 miles of tread upgraded
  • One 30-foot bridge and two 8-foot bridges completed
  • 311 water diversions built or refurbished
  • 4 culverts installed or renovated
  • 2 equestrian creek crossings added
  • 40-foot turnpike built in marshy area
  • 4 switchbacks built
  • Assisted Continental Divide National Scenic Trail partners in completing 1,500 of trail

Other Volunteerism:

  • 99 volunteers, including board members and operations and office helpers, dedicated 3,612 hours to Trail work
