Every single Trail season, bear problems happen along The Colorado Trail. Now in my 17th year as Executive Director with the CT Foundation, I cannot remember a trail season without reports like, ‘yeah, the bear got our food and shredded my bag.’

This is one reason the CTF recommends that every CT traveler take effective precaution with food storage.

Another reason is the other critters you will encounter along the way, including mice, marmots and porcupines, that also get into food brought by Trail users.

Here is the link to the CTF site page with a brief and some resource links on food storage.
