DETOUR, here’s info about a two-mile, temporary detour at Copper Mountain affecting small portions of CT Segments 7 and 8. The detour starts at Segment 7, mile 12.8 (from-Denver mile 117.2) where the CT meets the Summit County Rec Path. (See photos. Note detour sign with CT and CDT markers.) Diverge from the normal CT route by turning right on the rec path and traveling downhill maybe 0.5 mile. Turn left and cross the path bridge over Tenmile Creek to near the Conoco gas station and convenience store. At the traffic light cross Highway 91 and follow the detour signs into the Copper Mountain Resort entrance. The detour takes you into the village center and a short distance up the ski mountain to connect with CT Segment 8, mile 1.6 (from-Denver mile 119.2). Reason for detour is to improve safety given ski lifts construction activity including helicopter, etc. PLEASE SHARE so everyone will know.
