Water sources are abundant along most of The Colorado Trail. To keep from getting dehydrated and to plan how much water they carry along each stretch, trail users will need a guide. The guides with particularly good water source information are the ones most CT folks choose, the FarOut app, formerly Guthook, and the CT Databook.
Using FarOut, travelers can easily see how many miles to the next water source and will also have access to user comments about it. Those carrying the current, 8th edition of the CT Databook, can see where the next water sources are as well as how seasonably reliable they’ve been.
Replenishing water, and filtering or treating it, ranks near the top for most Trail travelers. These official guides provide the best information and are also the most likely to show current Trail routing.
